Old vs. New: Cheerio Box

February 28, 2010

Whenever products come out with a throw-back version of their packaging to celebrate an anniversary or whatever, I usually find myself wondering why they changed in the first place. Of course I know why they changed in the first place, I just can’t help but admire the simplicity and understated aspects of the old. In this case, the old Cheerio’s box is the clear winner with its pale yellow and General Mill’s old logo. Tex and Theo thought it the winner as well because it had a Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon on the back.

It looks as thought the retro Cheerio’s box is a repro from the mid to late 60s. Want to see more old packaging? Check out The Imaginary World.
